Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’d know that superstar musician David Bowie died this week at the age of 69 after a secret 18-month battle with cancer.
David leaves behind his widow, the beautiful supermodel Iman, who he was married to for 24 years, which is an amazing effort by Hollywood standards.
The two met on a blind date in 1990 and became inseparable, with a love that lasted almost two and a half decades. They died the knot in Tuscany in 1992 in a very small wedding ceremony with very few celebs in attendance. David, who was always extremely well dressed, wore tails and Iman wore an elegant halter neck gown and white gloves.
While they both had a child each from their first marriages, they wanted to have one together. They tried for 7 years without luck to conceive before they welcomed their only daughter, Alexandria Zahra Jones, into the word in 2000.
They made their home in New York and were a down-to-earth couple keeping to themselves, having a normal family life with their daughter as much as they could in private.
Bowie is quoted as famously saying ““You would think that a rock star being married to a supermodel would be one of the greatest things in the world. It is.”
Have a look through these photos of the loved-up couple that we found on Insta. It’s obvious just how deeply devoted to each other they were.
Today #onxonecole: “His actions spoke louder than words…We were dating for two weeks and I was coming from Paris and I got to L.A. at the airport and the doors open to the plane and I come out and I see all these people taking a picture of somebody. And he was standing there, flowers in hand, no security. That was when I knew he was a keeper. He didn’t care if anyone saw.” – #Iman Before Jay Z and Beyoncé, Kim and Kanye, or Angie and Brad there was David and Iman. Unfortunately, #DavidBowie's final chapter of his life has come to a close, as he died Sunday night after an 18-month battle with cancer. Although he’s gone, his footprint in the music industry, and his example of how to love a woman unconditionally, is everlasting, and will live on for generations. In 1994, Paul Mercurio invited me onto the set of the movie he was filming in Los Angeles, Exit to Eden. One of the actors in the film was Iman and Iman allowed me to take a few photos of her and David Bowie when he came to visit her. This is my favourite photo and I dedicate it to David Bowie. There is so much love in this photo. Vale Mr Bowie. And sincere sympathy to Mrs. #davidbowie #bowie #iman #legend (c) Serge Thomann #rock #rockgod #love #death #amour #eternallove #supermodel @the_real_iman @davidbowie
