On the front it looks like a regular fondant covered three tier wedding cake… but spin it around and it looks like it contains a massive amethyst geode!

Created by Intricate Icings, a cake maker from Denver, Colorado, this amazing cake took about 16 hands-on hours to create with several more hours of planning involved prior to making the cake.

It was created for an industry event celebrating the launch of a boutique planning company, First Look Events, as well as a new venue, Moss Venue.

The cake’s creator, Rachel Teufel, told Bored Panda that the geode was made from a combination of granulated sugar and rock candy that was then crafted with multicolored modeling chocolate and designed within a fondant covered cake.

Additional details were added with hand painting and gold leaf techniques.
