You have hundreds of things on your wedding planning checklist, we get it.  But one of the things that has become increasingly popular at weddings is the hashtag.

A 2014 survey by The Knot and Mashable found 55% of couples were planning on using a hashtag for social media for their big day.

Not only does it give you the opportunity to brand your wedding as uniquely your own, it will also help you and your guests to keep tabs on all the photos, tweets, Facebook updates, Vines and Periscopes of your day as it unfolds. You pretty much use the hashtag to curate all the content easily, making it searchable for everyone – even you, if you want, while you’re off on your honeymoon afterwards!

Generating a unique hashtag can be tricky, but never fear, there are things you can do to help make your social media planning simpler.

If you’re having trouble picking out a wedding hashtag you can use WeddingWire’s Hashtag and Bach-Hashtag Generator tools do the work for you! They are easy tools to use, and all you have to do is enter details like your names, nicknames, the date of your wedding, the city, and the venue type go. Keep refreshing until you find the perfect march for you as a couple.

Of course you should ensure your guests understand when to post and when not to post images to social media. If you don’t want anything to be posted until you can do it yourself, you should communicate this to them. If you don’t want photos of you in your dress before the ceremony before the groom will see, for example, or if you are having an unplugged ceremony so your guests can be fully present while you say “I do”, it’s a good idea to include some signs and get your celebrant to remind everyone.
