Beyoncé broke the internet today when she posted a photograph on Instagram announcing that she and husband Jay Z are expecting twins.
The pic itself shows Bey kneeling before a floral archway wearing a burgundy coloured bra with baby pink ribbons on it, baby blue coloured panties and a a light green veil.
Social media has gone pretty crazy over it – many think the photo is tacky and horrible, while there are some with a lot of love for it.
Fashion bible Vogue is on the love side of the fence and says the pic will inspire brides tying the knot this year.
The mag quotes an earlier article they published this year where wedding planners were asked about 2017’s top wedding trends and most said flowers and colour palette.
“In recent years, all white weddings, from bridesmaid dresses to bouquets, have dominated. But event planners such as Colin Cowie and Virginia Edelson predicted not only a return to colorful weddings with bright floral elements, but also an emphasis on greenery,” the mag says. Greenery is also the Pantone Colour Of The Year and is already expected to be big in weddings in 2017.
Queen Bey has incorporated these trends in her baby bump pic – the multi-coloured floral archway and the green veil “make the image so decidedly bridal” says Vogue.
Vogue predicts other wedding trends that could be sparked by the pic, including a bolder style of portrait photography and fake flowers.
“Fake flowers are often derided as tacky, but today, there are many artists making beautiful examples out of silk and crepe paper,” the mag says.
“Brides have yet to incorporate fake flowers en masse into their wedding plans, but after Beyoncé’s latest Instagram—we’d say it’s more than possible.”
We’ll be watching to see if they are right!
