Some brides find that their wedding day just flies by on the day. They get caught up in a whirl of activity and find that before they know it, it’s all gone by in a blur.

The reception alone has a lot going on… there’s lots of items on the itinerary to get through, all those guests you need to catch up with and thank for coming along, and of course dancing and having fun.

It’s important to take a few moments and take it all in… in particular, you should make sure you do these things:

1. Spend time alone with your other half.

While you will want to spend time with your guests, having some time alone with your new husband is important too.

2. Take a good look at your reception set up.

Have a good look at how your reception is set up, all ready to go. If you can check it out before your guests enter, even better. You’ve put a lot of hard work into creating this, you should see how all your hard work paid off.

3. Eat.

Make sure you get to enjoy your meal! You’ve spent all that time selecting the venue and choosing the menu, and you’ve also had a huge day, so make sure you have a meal.

4. Dance.

Make sure you take some time to have a dance with your family and friends. It’s also a great way to ensure you spend some time with them.

5. Change into comfortable shoes.

If your heels are likely to kill you if you stay in them all day, make sure you have some flats to change into at the reception, especially for dancing in.

6. Thank the important people.

Either do it privately, or make a toast during the reception. Say thanks to the people who have helped make your wedding day come to fruition.
