A fashion designer spent more than 235 hours making her own dress and veil ahead of her wedding day at a Portuguese palace last month.

Portuguese-born Ana Teixeria de Sousa – the designer behind the London eveningwear label Sophia Kah – married Philippe Schmitz at Casa de Mateus in July.

Ana told Vogue Β she looked to the Greek goddesses for inspiration, and that she wanted to create her day and evening looks, as well as all her bridesmaids’ dresses.

She confirmed that her caped gown took 135 hours to create and then she spent a further 100 hours embellishing her accompanying French veil.

Wish you guys all the happiness in the world!! ❀️ @anasophiakah @ps_rx #anamitzphilippe

Casa de Mateus is an 18th century Baroque heritage palace and made a stunning backdrop for the wedding, attended by 260 guests.

Ana’s bridesmaids wore pink:

The reception venue was beautifully decorated, as you might expect:

And their colourful cake was decorated with roses and berries, inspired by a traditional Tuscan cake.
